DEE-DEE DISCOVERS HER BOYFRIEND’S BEEN LEADING A DOUBLE LIFE…
Dee-Dee and Joel’s relationship is left hanging by a thread this week, after he confesses to having a secret wife and child!
Coronation Street viewers have long suspected that Dee-Dee’s seemingly perfect boyfriend is too good to be true, and it turns out they were right not to trust him…
“We find out he has a family that Dee-Dee knows nothing about!” reveals actor Calum Lill, who plays Joel. “He’s waited for the right time, but the right time hasn’t come – and the longer he’s waited, the more Joel feels as if he’s deliberately deceived Dee-Dee. He’s dug a huge hole for himself and it doesn’t look good for him.”
Joel’s web of lies starts to unravel when Dee-Dee spies a receipt falling from his wallet. It details an expensive gift he purchased at a jewellers’ back in December, which the solicitor knows wasn’t for her.
Faced with questions from Dee-Dee and her colleagues Alya and Adam, quick-thinking Joel claims that he treated himself a pair of cufflinks. But Alya has reason to suspect he’s fibbing – particularly when she later witnesses Joel sitting in the passenger seat of a mysterious woman’s car. And it turns out this other woman is actually Joel’s estranged wife, Emily!
“Joel is currently going through a divorce, although legally Emily is not his exwife yet,” explains Calum.
“She turns up out of the blue and corners him in the Bistro, demanding they finalise things because she’s sick of waiting.”
