Struggling Sonia finds herself feeling deeply jealous of her niece Whitney this week, when she hears that she’s expecting a baby.
Still unable to conceive through IVF, vulnerable Sonia is left reeling from Whitney’s pregnancy news. As Sonia yearns for another child, she’s given the chance to look after baby Charli – but how will Sonia cope with her emotions as her painful jealousy grows?
“Sonia would give anything to have another baby,” shares our Walford insider. “Even though she wants to be happy for Whitney, she can’t stop the stab of resentment. The intensity of her emotions is too much to bear…”
Since her first unsuccessful attempt at IVF, Sonia has leaned on Whitney for support. Knowing pregnancy is a sensitive topic for them both, Whitney’s hidden her happy news from Sonia, hoping to tell her at the right time. However, while Whitney’s trip to Milton Keynes unfolds, the news doesn’t spread as she’d hoped…
At the beginning of the week, Sonia is shocked by Whitney’s pregnancy revelation once she’s rushed to hospital (see p4). After breathing a sigh of relief when they hear the baby is fine, Bianca senses something isn’t right with her little sister and pulls Sonia aside for a heart-to-heart.
In an emotional catch-up, Sonia opens up to Bianca about the problems she’s having conceiving with Reiss, and how much she wants a baby. Sonia is comforted by her big sister’s encouragement, although she can’t escape the ache inside.
