WILL THE CHER-ALIKE BE ABLE TO TURN BACK TIME WITH AMY?
Whirlwind Kerry is back with a bang this week – when she’s dopped home by PC Swirling, dressed as crooner Cher!
Kerry’s return comes after her swift departure in late 2022, fleeing the village when she discovered boyfriend Al was cheating with a mystery woman. Following a year away on a cruise ship, Kerry’s been accused of theft and kicked off the boat – leaving her poor daughter Amy horrified…
“Kerry’s brought back by the police!” explains returning actress Laura Norton, who plays the character. “It’s quite an entrance she makes!
She’s been arrested, taken off the ship and brought back to Emmerdale.”
Amy can’t believe her eyes when her estranged mum crash lands in the village with the wig, boots and tight costume that’s unmistakably Cher. Weary PC Swirling leaves Kerry to explain the story of why she was arrested and brought back on dry land.
“Kerry was accused of stealing jewellery on the ship,” reveals the star. “She’s been on a cruise ship as a Cher impersonator and she’s up to her old tricks. She can’t help herself! She’s made a few bad decisions and she’s been a bit naughty.”
Resolute Kerry protests her innocence as she retells her cruise ship adventures. She claims she was falsely accused of stealing money and jewellery from her fiancé, but sceptical Amy struggles to believe her tale. A huge row breaks out as Amy rages at her mum for not coming home before now, especially when Reuben was born and Chloe needed her.
“At some point she would have been ready to face the kids and come home,” muses Laura. “Amy’s wounded because she feels as though Kerry should have come back a lot sooner. But then in comes this car crash to Amy’s lovely life – and trouble seems to follow Kerry around.”
