“When...?”

The stars face your questions!

“Whatis...?”

“Where...?”

“Who...?”

They “Why...?”

ANSWER!

“How...?”

Emmerdale’s opinionated minx Ruby has an answer for everything. But can star Beth channel her outspoken character as she faces questions from the Inside Soap readers?

“What do your friends and family think of Ruby?”

That she’s pretty awful! After the dinner party scene where Ruby got drunk and was horrible to everybody, my dad was very concerned I’d get trolled! I don’t really look at social media, which wasn’t around when I did The Bill or Family Affairs. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I always knew audiences were either going to love or hate Ruby!

Loose cannon: Don’t let alcohol and Ruby mix at a dinner party!

“Would you like to have Ruby as a friend in real life?”

I think she’d be fiercely loyal and fight for you, and would be a laugh to hang out with, but I’d avoid mixing her with other groups of people in your life. You’d probably see the way she behaves in a very different light and it would make you cringe!

“You were in The Bill – would you have made a good police officer in real life?”

I’d have been terrible. I’m too squeamish, if I see someone have a nosebleed I have to look away, so I’d be useless at the scene of an accident. And my daughter has to stop me losing my temper when people are being rude, I loved playing a cop though, The Bill was an amazing time and I had brilliant storylines.

Screen break: Beth avoids too much social media because of Ruby

“Which other Emmerdale character would you like to play?”

Kerry, because I want to master my Geordie accent! I love it but find it one of the hardest to do. Lewis Cope [aka Nicky] is from Hartlepool so I’m always trying to get him to help me with it. Whenever I give it a go I can tell he’s not impressed! I like doing accents, my Lancashire and Yorkshire aren’t bad, but the Geordie’s pretty terrible…

“Is there a piece of advice you’d like to give Ruby?”

I don’t think she’s evil, just incredibly impulsive, so I would say just think for 10 seconds before you say anything to anybody! I also think she’s a functioning alcoholic, and whenever she has a white wine on the go in the Woolpack she often goes off the rails at people.

Meaty role: Beth wants Mark Wingett to play Ruby’s dad
Acting masterclass: Beth would like help to perfect her Geordie accent

“Was it hard to be scary up against Shirley Carter when you were in EastEnders?”

My friends laughed hysterically when I was told my character was meant to be harder than
