Gus stands to lose everything in court this week – and it’s all down to Rhona! Will she use her statement for revenge, or reconciliation?

After Rhona’s brutal trial, the former spouses reach an awkward truce to protect baby Ivy’s future, and Rhona agrees to support Gus’ case in court.

But after months of betrayal, will Rhona trust Gus’ word and stick to her statement?

“Rhona goes with what she feels in her heart is right and truthful,” explains Zoe Henry, who plays the conflicted mum.

“That’s the nub of everything for her. She feels it in her gut and that’s what she does.”

Ahead of Gus’ sentencing, Marlon and Mary are taken aback when he drops by. The vicious words exchanged at Rhona’s trial has them all wary of Gus’ word, even when he promises them they’ll still be part of Ivy’s life if he doesn’t get a custodial sentence.

“Gus comes to them when he realises Rhona isn’t going to prison,” shares Zoe. “Rhona and Marlon are very sceptical because we’ve been here before. He agrees to sign Ivy’s care over to them if he gets banged up. They don’t really believe it at first, though it’s actually amicable for a bit…”

Marlon is sceptical that Gus will stick to his promises. His word is even harder to buy when he has no real plan for Ivy’s care going forward.

“Gus implies once he’s free again, he’ll make co-parenting work for all of them,” reveals Mark Charnock, who plays Marlon, as he picks up the story. “But it’s quite vague.”

Leaning on each for support, Rhona and Marlon discuss Gus’ upcoming sentencing, nervous about the outcome, though grateful to have each other’s back. When Rhona agrees to support Gus with her statement, her husband is visibly relieved.
