Grief-stricken Toyah lashes out at a group of amateur sleuths this week – after they desecrate the grave of her secret daughter, Rose!
When she stumbles upon three armchair detectives digging up a flower bed in the park, Toyah retaliates by smashing the windows of their car! It’s an uncharacteristic display of violence, but it soon becomes clear that it’s borne from years of harbouring a heartbreaking secret…
“Toyah finally breaks down in tears and tells Nick the terrible truth, that she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl 19 years ago,” reveals our Coronation Street spy. “It’s clear this secret has haunted her ever since, and Nick’s stunned as Toyah reveals that the baby’s father was Phil Simmonds, the man who raped her. She’s never told a soul about her daughter’s existence – until now…”
Body of evidence?
The dramatic turn of events kicks off after Roy’s pooch Freddie goes missing while being walked by Sam (see p16 for more on that). Soon a search party is underway, and Toyah joins in, offering to look at North Cross Park where Freddie is often exercised.
While there, Toyah spots the wannabe sleuths digging up a rose bed – when challenged, they reveal they saw Freddie digging at the same spot, so they reckon it’s where Roy has buried Lauren’s body! Sickened by what she’s hearing, furious Toyah picks up one of their shovels and smashes the window of their car while one of the gang films her. What has got into her?

“At first, it appears Toyah is just sticking up for Roy, incensed that these buffoons are still making his life hell,” points out our snoop.
“However, as her rage takes hold, it quickly becomes clear that the emotion driving Toyah comes from a much deeper place. It later comes to light that the area these gossip mongers are digging up is the exact same spot where Toyah laid her baby girl to rest!”
Criminal damage
Thankfully Nick arrives on the scene, and swiftly defuses the situation by persuading Toyah to put down the shovel.
However, Nick is left concerned as she bursts into tears, clearly distraught.
