Anxious to set Roy free, well-meaning Bobby made a belated false witness statement to the police that he saw a shadowy figure leaving Lauren’s flat the night she vanished. Instead of taking the heat off the innocent café owner, as Bobby had hoped, the gaping holes in the fabricated recollection saw it backfire. Plus Roy now knows Bobby made it up – and that Carla went along with it.
Carla and her nephew are now terrified principled Roy will blab to DS Swain and her team about Bobby’s lie – which could land them both in big trouble. When Roy later rings the café wanting to speak to Nina, she’s not around, so Shona answers instead and passes the phone over to Carla…
