I’ve got a cockerel in my hand,” is Jodie Prenger’s opening gambit when Inside Soap rings up for a chat. It’s certainly a new one on us, but Jodie goes on to explain that her young cockerel is being bullied by two older ones, so she’s brought him indoors in order to show him some love.

It seems that the drama at Jodie’s farmhouse home with its menagerie of animals (see later in the interview for more on them) could rival the plots on Coronation Street – giving Jodie trouble at home and at work. This week, Glenda finds herself thrown into a big new story, as she discovers her brother George has kept a big secret about their dad Archie’s will – that Glenda should have inherited half of the Shuttleworth funeral business. She buys the props and the feather boas, but as for the rest, not so much. She sees this chance to buy the business and she doesn’t want to miss out, but she’s a bit blinded by the idea of finding the next child star.

We see George realise it’s not the business she thinks it is…

He’s the business brains and she’s the creative one that has gone out and sailed across the seas, so I’m sure when she was on the cruise ship, she wasn’t bothered about a bank balance – just when a gin-top is going to come along!

George is keeping shtum about the will situation since Todd uncovered it, so how does Glenda end up finding out?

Todd is talking to Glenda, but they get crossed wires, so when she goes, “Well, I know,” Todd gets confused and blurts out abou
