With gripping thriller The Gathering available to stream in its entirety via Channel 4 On Demand, Sonny Walker – who stars in the six-parter as talented free runner Adam – leaps in to tell us his favourite TV shows…
What have you enjoyed watching on TV most recently?
The Gentleman and The Beautiful Game, both on Netflix. They are absolutely brilliant. The Beautiful Game in particular raises issues that aren’t really spoken about, and it stars Michael Ward, whose career I’ve watched develop over many years. Watching him in something like that has been great.
How about comedy?
My favourites are Plebs, Ladhood, Ideal, This Country, Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps, Friday Night Dinner… A lot of them involve working-class characters who I feel are relatable.
What did you watch growing up?
I was probably a bit young at the time, but I loved The Inbetweeners! Also Mr Bean and Tracy Beaker. And The Simpsons – that’s a classic.
Which shows do you like to chill out with?
Vera. I’m absolutely gutted that they’re filming the last season now. I’ve not had a chance to get a guest part in it or anything, so I guess that ship has sailed!
Are you much of a binge-watcher?
Yeah – the last series I binged was This Is England [Shane Meadows-penned drama starring Vicky McClure]. I absolutely love it, and I’ve watched it four or five times now – it’s just timeless.
