It’s not a typical love story, but it’s a love story nonetheless,” explains Daf James, the writer behind this new three-part drama series starring Sion Daniel Young (Deceit) as singer and artist extraordinaire Gabriel, and Fra Fee (Cabaret) as his partner Andy. “And, as well as being about gay adoption, it’s a show about parents and children, so I think it’s a universal story because we’ve all been children to somebody. But it’s a celebration of love in all its manifest forms – with music!”

Inside TV joins Daf, Sion and Fra for a chat about the series – set in Wales, with a cast including Elizabeth Berrington, Sharon D Clarke and Mali Ann Rees. Here, Fra and Sion tell us more…

Sion I’d not really done that sort of thing before – the costume and make-up departments did such an amazing job. There’s just something about putting those costumes on and the effect that it has on you physically; that really helped me find the version of Gabriel that exists within Neverland, as it’s quite different to the version we see outside. Those scenes felt like a different TV sh
