Dee-Dee is rendered speechless this week, after Joel gets down on bended knee and asks her to be his wife!
The surprise proposal comes about after Dee-Dee has a disastrous first meeting with her boyfriend’s parents, which prompts Joel to prove his commitment with the offer of marriage. But are they really ready to take such a big step? “Joel and Dee-Dee have been back together all of five minutes, and now he wants to make it forever!” exclaims our Weatherfield insider. “There’s no denying he’s smitten, but this seems rather a hasty decision – and possibly not made for the right reasons.”
The couple’s love story hasn’t exactly got off to the best of starts. Dee-Dee previously dumped Joel after discovering he’d lied to her about the existence of his estranged wife, Emily, and their young daughter, Maeve.
Their paths crossed again in a professional capacity when Dee-Dee drafted in her ex to help with Roy Cropper’s bail application and quickly realised how much she’d missed him. Choosing to ignore her loved ones’ warnings not to trust Joel, Dee-Dee went with her heart and decided to give him another go.
