Everything you love about the BBC is here – from live streams of current broadcasts to an extensive library of boxsets, all of which are free. The app itself is easy to use and you can download content for offline viewing, and add or remove your favourite shows and movies with a BBC account. Other goodies include subtitle support (something the iPlayer app on the Apple TV box lacks) and AirPlay, so you can always show your iPlayer content on a compatible display.

Freeview reveals what’s on UK broadcast TV for the week ahead, enables you to set alarms so you can be alerted to when a programme airs, and automatically takes you to the relevant app when you want to watch something in particular. Freeview covers On Demand content too and there’s a handy search function, making content quick to find.
