DailyArt makes some of the world’s greatest art, and the stories behind it, accessible
The world of art can seem lofty and cut-off, with too much to take in for those of us without an Art History degree. DailyArt makes some of the world’s greatest pieces, and the stories behind them, accessible. It sends you a daily notification highlighting a single work and provides accessible background information on it and the artist.
The app works across iPhone and iPad (and notifications can also appear on your Apple Watch). As well as being educational – DailyArt brings to attention works you may have never seen before – the app provides a nice moment of serenity during the day.
Making art accessible
The brief piece of writing that accompanies each artwork is accessible to those with little artistic knowledge, providing enough detail without being overwhelming. There’s also Google Translate integration, so whatever your native tongue, you can use it. You can ‘Favourite’ pieces that you particularly like to easily return to them within the app, and there’s a share option too.
DailyArt also includes the ability to search the archive and profiles of different museums around the world.
For a one-time payment of £4.99, you can get a premium, ad-free version of the app which includes access to the entire DailyArt database and unseen items.
