E-type fuel pump conversion
All Series 1 E-type 3.8 models were originally equipped with an in-tank, submerged electric fuel pump. This arrangement, similar to the set-up on the MkX, was only used on these early models and was replaced by an external remote-mounted SU pump by the time the Series 1 4.2 was introduced.
“Increasing use of ethanol
in toda ’s fuels can encourage corrosion and gumming within the fuel system, especially in the fuel tank and in situations where the car is left laid-up for an extended period of time, such as winter storage with the tank less than full,” explains SNG Barratt. “Upgrading to the later remote pump set-up is very straightforward as major parts such as the fuel tank did not change.”
So SNG Barratt has introduced a comprehensive conversion kit to change a Series 1 E-type 3.8 from an in-tank pump to a remote unit suitable for positive earth electrics. The kit includes a new SU electric fuel pump, a new in-tank pickup, mounting bracketry, fastenings, wiring, fuel lines and fitting instructions.

Upgraded XJ-S and XJC reversing lights
New from Better Car Lighting is an LED upgrade kit that fits into the standard Lucas L925 reversing light unit fitted to the XJ Coupe and early XJ-S. “The reversing lights will be four times as powerful,” explains Gil Keane at BCL. “There is an extra pair of very bright, high-level brake lights, and, at the push of the small, neat button, a pair of red rear fog lights.” A switch for these additional fog lights needs to be mounted inside the vehicle (it fits into a standard size 12mm-diameter hole) and the new light board, which fits inside each reversing light, plugs straight in with additional wiring routed from it to connect to the brake light wiring and for the rear fog lights.

Aluminium gearbox sump
British Parts is now selling an upgraded sump for the six-speed automatic gearbox fitted to the S-TYPE (2002-2008), X350- generation XJR, X351, Mk1 XF 3.0D and all models of the XK8/R and XK from 2003 to 2015.
