Jaguar spares day 2023

EVENT REPORT

SUNDAY, MARCH 5 saw the dawn of a new era for the longstanding ‘Jaguar Spares Day’ event. Successfully held at Stoneleigh since the mid- ’80s, following the dual blows that Covid and Brexit had struck to viability over the last two occasions rising costs triggered a move to its new Malvern Showground venue.

Whilst the Jaguar Drivers Club organises these events for the benefit of the Jaguar community as a non-profit making enterprise, a financial loss is obviously unacceptable. Few economically viable facilities in the UK are big enough to hold such a meeting but Malvern already had a good reputation for hosting similar events for other marques – notably Land Rover. Its relatively central location aiding travelling and consequent attendance. The £10 (in advance) entry fee was maintained, and a lower stall price was designed to encourage turnout by both traders and private individuals clearing out their garages.

Any concerns the JDC may have had over relocation were dispelled when it transpired that very few sellers were deterred by the move – in fact, they picked up a few new ones along the way. In total, around 100 stands were booked, supplementing their regular major supporters, including SNG Barratt, Northampton Auto Rads, BAS, Blockley Tyres, Autosparks, E-Type Spares Ltd, Castle Chrome and Realm Engineering some of whom reserved multiple bays displaying plenty of stock for sale.
