XK lighting upgrades
The Jaguar XK120 and early XK140 originally used the Lucas L469 combined number plate and reversing light. Almost eight years ago, Better Car Lighting designed an LED upgrade for this light to discreetly equip it with a more powerful reverse light, a bright warm white number plate light, but more importantly an extra, high-level red brake light, which can also be a red rear fog light at the touch of a button. “The combination of feedback from customers and developments in the fastmoving world of LEDs led me to decide that it was time to make some improvements,” says Gil Keane at BCL.
“LED chips are now available which are more powerful, but much more efficient. I have been able to have the printed circuit boards made in black, so they disappear behind the lens until lit up. The plug-in adaptor for the new and powerful reversing light has an extension to make fitting easier, and the high-level red brake light will add to the standard ones to make sure that everyone notices it. For those who also want to use the new red light function as either a rain light or a red rear fog light, there is a new and discreet push-button switch to create that function as well. It is small enough to fit into a standard 12mm switch hole or fit into a tiny space.”

XJS Air-con condensers

X150 brake calipers
The rear brake calipers fitted to the X150 generation of the XK and XKR, and various V8-engined XF and XJ models, are now available to purchase outright from British Parts. The caliper is a singlepiston black specification with a mechanical handbrake mechanism, although the handbrake is operated via a motorised electronic cable pull (technically speaking, it’s called an integrated parking brake). Each one is suitable for the ATE braking system.
These calipers (handed for left and right) are suitable for the 4.2litre XKR from 2006 to 2014, the 5.0-litre XK from 2009 onwards, the X350 generation of the XJR from 2003 onwards, the Mk1 XFR from 2009 to 2014 and also the 5.0-litre V8 XF from the same era.
