This friendly threesome won’t take long to crochet
Worked in the easiest of stitches, this colourful gang by
HEATHER GIBBS features simple stripes and stitched-on spots. Each is done partly in the round and partly in rows, so watch out for the switch in the pattern from one to the other.
Use French knots for eyes if you prefer, but don’t forget to add a cheeky smile to each one!
STRIPY STARFISH

Using 4mm hook and Bright Yellow make a magic ring, work 6dc into ring. Six sts
Rnd 1: 2dc in each st to end. 12 sts
Rnd 2: (1dc, 2dc in next st) to end. 18 sts Change to Lush Green
Rnd 3: (2dc, 2dc in next st) to end. 24 sts Change to Bright Yellow
Rnd 4: (3dc, 2dc in next st) to end. 30 sts Change to Lush Green From this point onwards work in rows to create each point of the star
Rows 1-2: 1ch (does not count as a st throughout), 6dc, turn. Six sts Change to Bright Yellow
Row 3: 1ch, dc2tog, 2dc, dc2tog, turn. Four sts
Row 4: 1ch, 4dc, turn Change to Lush Green
Row 5: 1ch, (dc2tog) twice, turn. Two sts
Row 6: 1ch, dc2tog, turn. One st Fasten off Rep Rows 1-6 for each star point, starting in next st from turning ch for Row 1. On last point leave a long yarn tail for sewing Body pieces tog. Five points made
