An apartment in Vicenza owned by a young creative couple acts as their personal cabinet of curiosities

THE OWNERS Nicola Tamiozzo, who is a musician, and his partner, Arianna Bartolomeo, who works in communications. They have also paired up to launch Studio TIBI, a creative consultancy studio.
THE PROPERTY A single-storey apartment on the second floor of an early-20th-century building in Vicenza, Italy. There is one bedroom, a bathroom, a living room, a dining room, a study and a kitchen, all of which lead off a generous entrance hall.
This house is our very own cabinet of curiosities,’ say Nicola and Arianna, the owners of this striking Italian apartment. ‘We live surrounded by elements that inspire and stimulate us: colours, objects and wonders found during travels or browsing in vintage markets. We have played on the similarities and contrasts between furniture from the 1960s and 1970s and modern works of art by local artists. Each object tells a story.’
On the hunt for a period property, they found their ‘place to be’ just outside the city walls of Vicenza. Many of the apartment’s original features had luckily remained intact, requiring only a delicate restyling to return them to their original glor y. In addition to this was the good fortune of the early-20th-century apartment having a great layout. ‘The house faces both east, where you’ll find the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom, and west, where the living room, dining room and study are situated. It is wonderfully bright, thanks to the numerous windows, two of which have balconies.’ While interested in interiors, Nicola is a musician by profession and Arianna works in communications, so they turned to their friend, interior designer Giacomo Totti, for help in making the apartment their own.
