Maverick Country Music Magazine
1 July 2022
Every issue celebrates new horizons - new albums, tour date announcements etc but this issue in particular celebrated new horizons for a number of our artists both in their professional and personal lives. You will see in our news section that Luke Combs became a father whilst Scotty McCreery is preparing to be a father. Professionally LOCASH are about to make their UK debut at The Long Road Festival in August which we’re really excited about. Another very special event, that has never been seen before will take place at The Long Road, Rissi Palmer will bring over some new and upcoming artists that she has featured on her ‘Color Me Country’ show and we can’t wait to be introduced to those talented girls in a live setting. My favourite article in this issue was the interview I did with Faith Hill. She has had a long and illustrious career and is of course a household name not just within country music but within the wider music industry. Alongside husband Tim McGraw, Faith recently learnt a lot of new skills whilst working on the Paramount+ show ‘1883’. Whilst promoting the launch of the show in London, Faith sat down with me to talk about her career and the exciting things she and Tim got up to on the set of ‘1883’. The imagery the show provided us with was lovely and our designer Sam has done another superb job of bringing this feature to life so I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed putting that one together! The focus was very much this issue on promoting live performance and Cam recently put on a fabulous set at BST Hyde Park, winning over new fans as well as old with her flawless vocal delivery. It was a joy to talk to her and share in her excitement as she gushed over the fabulous line up she was a part of. I am a big fan of the legends of our genre and keeping their legacy alive so as much as this issue does focus on new beginnings, it was wonderful to talk to Steve Earle about how he is keeping Jerry Jeff Walker’s legacy alive with his new record. Meanwhile, Tre Twitty and Tayla Lynn talked to me about the influence their grandparents music had on them and the unique way in which they keep their music going. I hope to see some of you out and about at the remaining festivals this summer, fingers crossed the weather stays fine for all of us as we welcome some of these fabulous artists to our shores for the first time!
