Armour trims can be added in many colours

Dear Ask Us Anything, I was wondering if it is possible to get trimmed armour in the Creative inventory or with commands? The reason for asking is because I've been away from Minecraft for ages and returned without a clue as to how a smithing table works! Thank you so much for your help. Liam, age 11

Hey Liam! Thanks for your letter. We understand it can be tough to pick up new features in Minecraft when you’ve had some time away. Unfortunately you can’t pick trimmed armour from the Creative inventory, and while it is possible to add trimmed armour using the console, the commands would be so long that it’s not really feasible to list or explain them here!

The good news is that we’ll be doing a guide to armour trims in the very next issue, so pick that off the shelves and you’ll be able to get a full set of instructions as to how to add trims.

For now, though – what you need to know is that to add a trim to armour, you need four things: a smithing template, a piece of armour, material for the trim and a smithing table. The latter three are fairly easy to get hold of, and the former can be found in many different places where you’ll find loot, such as pyramids, jungle temples, strongholds, Nether fortresses, shipwrecks and more.

So keep giving it a try, and come back next month for all the information you could ever need on the topic!

Dear Ask Us Anything, Im a huge fan of your magazine and Ask Us Anything is my favourite section – it really helps me improve my Minecraft skills! Ive come up with a few Minecraft questions of my own to ask you – I play on the Nintendo Switch. 1. How do you enter seed reference numbers into a world?

2. Which is the best enchantment for a netherite sword? 3. Can you ride pigs in Minecraft? 4. What new animals/mobs will there be in the next update? 5. How do you craft beds in Survival mode? Thanks! From Kate, age 8

Hey Kate! We play on the Nintendo version a lot too! Let’s see if we can help:

To enter a seed on any version of the Bedrock Edition, click Play > Create New > Create New World, click on ‘Advanced’ on the left, then enter the seed in the box underneath where it says ‘world seed’. Set any other options you might want, then finally click ‘Create’ on the left!

It depends how you’re playing the game, but Sharpness always comes in useful on swords – it makes them do more damage!

You can – simply use a saddle on them to put it on their back, then get on. If you want to direct the pig, you’ll also need to combine a fishing rod and a carrot, and you can then use th
