It’s the most wonderful time of the year! So let’s celebrate the festive season with a bumper list of build ideas and hacks to make everything sparkle in Minecraft just a little more

FOOD

CANDY CANES – Not really food as such (though we’d really love a massive one in real life), but super-simple to build using coloured concrete and quartz (1), and they add a real fantasy-land feel to any Christmas scene. Shame you can’t actually eat them! Stair blocks help to make the curved end (2)!

GINGERBREAD – Jungle wood (not logs or planks) is perfect for making oversized cookies, men, or even whole houses that look like gingerbread (3). Use coloured concrete for decoration (4), and quartz for icing/snow (5) – because that gives you access to step blocks!

CHRISTMAS FEAST – Everyone loves the food at Christmas, right? So why not put on a massive feast with a large table made of stripped logs, and chairs made from stairs in your choice of colour (6)? Place item frames on the table to look like plates (7); these will need to be crafted using a crafting table with eight sticks around the edge and leather in the ninth spot in the centre. After you’ve placed it where you wish, simply add the item you want to display to it (8); we’re putting food into ours – steaks, or whatever you fancy (9). Flower pots on the table will look like drinking cups (10), and you can add a few candles, then light them to create a cosy atmosphere (11). Finally, add in a few cakes – you want to make sure there’s dessert for afterwards, right?

SNOWMEN

Modified Snow Golem – Build a snow golem by putting a carved pumpkin or jack o’lantern on top of two snow blocks; when it moves, use shears on it and the pumpkin will disappear, leaving the snowman (12)! Golem snowmen move a lot, so control them with a lead (13). That won’t stop them melting in the rain or throwing snowballs at mobs, though!

Dropper Snowmen – Use two snow blocks with a dropper on top, then add levers for arms. They’re a lot calmer (14)!

CHRISTMAS DAY!

PRESENTS – A coral fan can turn any block into a present (15); just pop one on top! It’s best to select blocks that resemble wrapping paper, though. So look for colour, like melon and amethyst blocks, or the appearance of already having a ribbon wrapped around it – like cut copper, purpur, and kelp (16). You can also use banners on the side to look like wrapping paper (17).
