Go exploring after a spring storm and you may find a fallen branch to adorn with SPRING PRETTIES says floral designer JANE SCOTT
March brings breezes loud and shrill, stirs the dancing daffodil: so says Sara Coleridge in her poem The Garden Year. And according to recent research, walking in windy weather is a stress reliever. So my partner and I headed out to clear the cobwebs and ponder the wonder of wind.
We didn’t get far before we came across a beautiful birch branch, blown from its tree, and I immediately saw its floral faffing potential. Needless to say, we carried this twiggy treasure back home. Having made all this effort I wanted to display my branch somewhere it would get noticed, so I draped it over a coat hook, the perfect height for the soft twiggy ends to trail on the floor.
I then got totally carried away, creating a display for springtime, Mother’s Day and Easter, all rolled into one!
