How fitting that you chose the Fairey Huntsman 28 as your December nomination for Coolest Boat!
At least 80 of the oh-so-elegant Huntsman 28s were completed by Fairey Marine between 1960 and 1969, of which more than 40 presently remain in service with a further dozen in the process of being restored. A total of 21 Huntsman 28s competed in almost 100 offshore races, the most recent in the 2010 Cowes-to-Torquay, providing the ultimate tribute to the late Alan Burnard’s stunning design, Fairey Marine’s hot-moulded hull, and several generations of enthusiastic and proud owners.
I couldn’t agree with you more. The Huntsman is a bona fide classic that looks as cool today as it did when it was launched more than 50 years ago.
BACK TO THE FUTURE
I have subscribed to MBY for many years and your magazine’s cruising articles have inspired my wife and I to be more adventurous than planned when we first bought a boat!
We took delivery of our latest craft, a Sunseeker Manhattan 52, in Poole in 2017, and we have progressively cruised her as far as Palma, Mallorca.
We are now planning to travel to Barcelona, the South of France and onwards to Italy, and that brings me on to the reason I have written to you. Thomas and Jutta Kittel wrote a series of articles called the Grand Tour a while back. Can you help me find these back issues ?
