With base prices from around €1.4 million ex VAT, this traditional trawler-style cruiser W represents a lot of boat for the money.

It uses a symmetrical walkaround layout with a flybridge that extends way out over the side decks for extra space up top and extra shelter down below.

The bow also does a very effective job. In addition to unobstructed skylights, it provides central sunbeds with lifting backrests and hinged sun shades, plus sufficient space in the forepeak for a five-person dining station without impeding the anchor, rails or cleats.

Back aft, the cockpit benefits from a C-shaped aft galley with a fold-out bar to ramp up its sociability.

And down on the hi-lo swim platform, there’s a very neat three-man aft-facing bench, plus a big easy-access storage locker for watersports toys.

Interestingly though, the flybridge on the 58 Fly seems to prioritise seating over sunbathing.

There’s seating right the way up the port side, plus a more intimate section to starboard . There’s also a two-man starboard helm and an open-plan aft end with a big transverse galley and plenty of space for freestanding furniture.

There’s no cockpit helm, which seems like a peculiar omission, but the fact that you can see the starboard quarter through the flybridge steps should certainly help when berthing astern.

As for the 58’s cruising credentials, they look strong. As the first of the line, the engine bay still looks unfinished, but it’s easy to see that, with either Cummins 715s or D13-1000s, there’s all kinds of space for ‘extras’ like generators,
