When the Cannes Yachting Festival gets particularly hot and frantic, few places feel W as restorative as the inside of a Y Class motor yacht.

With its sweeping furniture, curved walnut and muted tones, the open-plan saloon is as practical as it is beautiful.

The galley and helm station can be closed off, enabling the crew to use the side deck as a discreet route between the two spaces.

But even if you do decide you need crew, we would still forego the extra bulkheads, because the way natural light floods through the forward screen, right the way aft to the back end of the saloon, is delightful.

The plunging window to port is equally attractive. It sits alongside a central dining table, which is mounted on runners so you can slide it out of the way for easy movement.

Further forward, the day heads sits on the starboard side just behind the helm, ensuring that the lower deck’s ensuite bathrooms are all entirely private.

Further forward again, some companion seating to port (and slightly ahead) of the raised helm is really cosy and intimate, enabling you to face across to the skipper, to relax and enjoy the views or to face aft and see the entire main deck stretching out behind you.
