Nord Star has been in business for the best part of a century so it’s no great surprise that the Cruiser variant of its 42+ feels so very well sorted. While the likes of Sargo and Targa tend to use relatively wide side decks, the Nord Star trims them in a bit to generate extra volume in the saloon. On the base “Voyager” model, that’s used for quite a squat dinette that juts out into the space, forcing the long starboard galley to taper as it runs aft. But here on the Cruiser model, the dinette is longer and narrower.

It runs unbroken all the way along the port side, enabling the galley to provide much more space for worktops, storage and refrigeration. It also benefits from a two-part aft door and an adjustable aft seat that enable it to integrate in far more convincing fashion with the bench seats of the external cockpit.
