The vacuum-infused hull takes its cues from sailing yachts

You really need to see this boat in the flesh or, better still, experience it at sea to appreciate what all the fuss is about. Photographs alone don’t do it justice because they can’t convey how enormous the beam is, how well the split-level interior works and how thorough the engineering is.

Borrowing much of its aesthetic and hull shape from high-performance sailing yachts, its aim is to deliver effortless long-range cruising without the hassle of sails. Judging from its stated cruising range of 1,000nm at 8 knots with a modest 1,200-litre fuel tank, it seems to have hit the mark. Its slippery shape plays a big part in that but so does a high-tech build process that includes a full carbon superstructure and a painted, rather than gelcoated, vacuum-infused hull to keep the weight down to 20 tonnes.

The category A RCD rating and duplicate systems for everything from fuel filters to raw water strainers suggest this is a seriously capable offshore passagemaker and yet the outdoor and indoor spaces appear just as well suited to long, lazy days at anchor.

Its vast 19ft 11in beam – the same as a Princess X80 and wider than a Prestige M48 powercat – makes for a wonderfully big cockpit with a pair of low-level dinettes that convert to sprawling day beds. A swivell
