Given the scale of the external spaces, the pilothouse is superb

The largest model yet from Quarken follows much the same principles as the awardwinning 27. There’s the elegant twin-stepped hull, the plumb bow, the flared foredeck, the fully glazed pilothouse and the Yamaha outboards. But here, the pilothouse is offset to port, narrowing the port side deck, while opening up a larger walkway on the starboard side – and that’s a handy feature because both the foredeck and the aft cockpit harbour entertaining spaces of genuine merit.

At the back end, the cockpit’s central aft bench sits opposite a transverse wet bar built into the pilothouse’s aft bulkhead. There are also half-height drop-down coamings on both sides, enabling you to create four additional seats without swallowing up valuable deck space. That means the show boat could easily seat seven, but the UK spec looks likely to trade in the wet bar for an additional aftfacing bench, creating sufficient space for the full ship’s company of ten. There are extra peripheral tables to keep those on the bulwark seats properly serviced – and when you want to change the scenery, the foredeck provides a raised three-man lounging section, plus a neatly conceived five-man dinette.
