It may look familiar but this is an all-new model with lots of small but significant improvements

All-new Targas come around roughly as often as Halley’s Comet, so the fact they managed to keep this one secret until a couple of days before the Düsseldorf show opened was something of a miracle. Then again, to the casual onlooker, the new 41 looks much like every other Targa, at least until you spot the flush-fit frameless glazing and, for the first time ever, hull windows amidships. Admittedly, they are barely tall enough to post a letter through but they do provide some much-needed light, views and fresh air to the surprisingly spacious aft cabin.

The saloon mixes classical workmanship with 21st century function

It’s indicative of Targa’s approach to the whole boat; a raft of evolutionary steps that add up to a much more enjoyable cruising experience without sacrificing any of the brand’s legendary toughness.

The new 41 is actually the same width as the current Targa 46 and over 45ft long. That extra width makes for a much bigger aft cockpit with boarding gates on both sides and a far more sociable seating arrangement around a pair of teak tables, both of which have bespoke storage slots on the underside of the two enormous engine hatches.
