BMW M1000R

BMW Motorrad’s ‘M’ models are very special bikes and if you want to roll up on a supernaked that will put most superbikes to shame when it comes to performance, the M1000R is for you. This full-on super-naked is one serious proposition.

Powered by BMW’s Mengine, the M1000R takes the S1000R as a base and ramps it up another level. Unlike the S R, the MR’s inline four features BMW’s ShiftCam system, giving a stack more midrange, while altered internals see it pushing out over 200bhp and hitting 14,600rpm. Not only that, it even runs lower gearing and has a barking Akrapovic exhaust.

Helping harness this excess of performance is a chassis that once again is far from standard S1000R. As well as lightweight Mforged wheels, the M1000R features Dynamic Damping Control, uprated Mbrakes, Pro riding modes, ABS, TC and even wings! Yep, special winglets are designed to generate more than 11kg of downforce (at 136mph) to help keep the front on the ground. Well, that’s reassuring...

Certainly not for the faint-hearted, the M1000R is an incredible bike and one that guarantees to turn heads. BMW don’t stick their Mbadge on any old bike and if you buy an M1000R, you’re getting something out of the ordinary. You know you want one.
