Hundreds of riders joined us to celebrate International Female Ride Day at the very first WoMCN Rider meet-up

Our first-ever WoMCN meet was a blast!

On May 4 this year, MCN joined the thousands of riders celebrating the 18th annual International Female Ride Day by hosting the first WoMCN Rider meet up, at the Super Sausage Café near Towcester, Northamptonshire.

Hundreds of bikers visited the popular hotspot throughout the day (both men and women) on a whole range of bikes, with highlights including a Honda Monkey 125 and a pair of KTM RC8s. Groups came in their droves, but the biggest was the Herts, Beds and Bucks section of the all-female motorcycle club Curvy Riders – top and tailed by regional reps Cat Moule and Nicky Audley.

“We encourage ladies of all ages, every ability and on any motorbike to come out and ride with likeminded people,” said Cat. “Today we’re off to Industry &Supply, then on to Hinckley. We’ll ride, eat cake, and have a laugh – it’s all about having fun!”

It’s a sentiment Nicky shares: “The vibe is really nice,” she said. “And last year we got 120 women bikers at the final destination.”

Riders came to the MCN event from as far away as Kent, and Kate and Pam Sollers-Dominey rode from Tamworth on their Triumph Bonneville. “Days like this are important for helping female riders to see they’re not the only one who rides, especially if they have a lot of male friends,” said Kate, who runs motorcycle maintenance workshops for women under the name Ratchet and Ride.

“It’s so nice to come together and see lots of ladies enjoying their bikes, enjoying each other’s company and just sharing the enjoyment of motorcycling.”
