HEAD TO WOODLANDS CAFÉ AND TEA ROOMS

This Devil’s Bridge venue is aproper biking hub

Plenty of parking and the venue is full of charm

If you’ve ever ridden in midWales you’ve no doubt have spent time riding along the lush Eden Valley, the A44, and probably stopped off at Devil’s Bridge. Yet there’s another reason to pay a visit to this hotspot: Woodlands Café.

Woodlands sits at heart of it all, right next to the three bridges and surrounded by great biking roads.

“My parents had the café for seven or eight years. But they wanted to slow down, so we took it on,” says owner Ian Bunton.

Working with his wife, Leri, the pair have kept on the tradition of welcoming bikers from all over, ensuring that most of the cakes are baked in house, and everything on the menu is made fresh.

“It’s not a massive kitchen, but we do all-day breakfasts, and the burgers are really popular – they’re from Carmarthenshire, and my friend makes the Welsh cakes – so we try to support local firms.”

Outside there is plenty of seating, as well as ample hard-standing to park your bike. Plus, there is a campsite, ideal if you plan to take advantage of some of the multi-day training courses at a nearby adventure centre. “Sweet Lamb Rally Complex is just up the road,” says Ian, “and they come in sometimes, then there is the Yamaha off-road centre, too.

“When the bikes come, a lot of our other customers go out and take a look at them – and bikers are always chatty people.”
