The festive season is upon us! We asked a leading make-up artist how to switch up our make-up for a more impactful look

GO EASY WITH YOUR FOUNDATION

Few of us truly need full coverage when it comes to our skin, even on a night out, because all you need to disguise is pigmentation, spots and veins to create a good base for your make-up.

“When it comes to choosing a foundation, I would advise a less-is-more approach,” Liz says. “Tinted moisturisers are great as they give coverage and colour, but they are light and don’t cake or accentuate lines and creases.

PRIME YOUR EYELIDS

Wearing a stronger coloured eyeshadow than usual is a great way to dial up the drama for a special occasion. It pays to create a good base for eyeshadows to ensure they will last, though, particularly if you have hooded eyelids or the skin around your eye area is beginning to get a little crêpey.

“An eyelid primer is great if you are going to be wearing a lot of eyeshadow,” Liz explains. “But you can get the same effect by using your foundation to even out the colour on your eyelid and then sweeping some powder on top to ensure your eyeshadow will last.”
