1 Take yourself out of your comfort zone. Sometimes we get just a bit too comfy in our lives. We can thrive on structure and routine – but occasionally shaking things up a bit can give you a big boost of energy and a new lease of life. Always fancied doing a skydive/trying a yoga class/learning to quilt? Well, what’s stopping you? Find out what’s on in your local area and put some pep in your step!

2 Look up an old friend. Isn’t it weird that we are more connected than ever thanks to technology and social media – and yet in our busy lives, we can go for months or even years without actually seeing friends. There’s usually no big fall out or drama, there’s just a drift. Actually making the effort can pay huge dividends. You catch up and have a laugh. More than that, though, you put a smile on your face and give yourself a huge feel good boost!

3 Stop putting off that annoying task. Procrastinating is such an energy drain. Whether it’s that big pile of ironing you just can’t face or clearing out the cupboard that’s getting on your nerves, putting niggly tasks off is just not good for your wellbeing and energy levels. Is that ironing pile growing by the day? Set an alarm for 20 minutes and get through a few items. You might just find you carry on and finish it, or do another 20 minutes tomorrow. Or mark tasks in your calendar – a reminder can be a motivator.

4 Do a headstand! What?! No, we’re absolutely serious – it really is a great way to turn that frown upside down! They can help with focus, boost energy and strengthen your core. Some yoga experts even believe they can help alleviate water retention. Think safety first though – if you’ve got a bad back, give this one a miss. And always do your headstand against a wall and when someone else is around.
