Don’t Miss

A national favourite

Pastry lovers rejoice! It’s British Pie Week from March 4-10. From pork to pecan, it’s time to celebrate the legacy of pies in all their glorious forms.

Whether you’ve got a sweet tooth or prefer something a little more savoury, make sure to fill your plate this week to celebrate the event. You could even whip up a pie yourself to share with friends and family.

Superfans can even pop along to the British Pie Awards on March 6 to see which pies will be honoured this year. Find out more at

Take the chance to celebrate nature on World Wildlife Day this March 3. This day was first proclaimed back in 2013 by the United Nations General Assembly. It was suggested by Thailand as a way to raise awareness around protecting wild animals and plants across the world and to understand the threats they face – a very worthy idea!

The theme for 2024 is Connecting People and Planet, exploring how digital innovation can drive conservation and open up the world for future generations.

You can get involved online by hopping over to www.wildlifeday.org, or of course by donating to conservation projects that matter to you.

Animal Cuddles

Grab your furry friend and give them some affection, because it’s National Love Your Pet Day on February 20. Treat your pet to their favourite treat, a new toy, or a good old-fashioned back scratch to show them you care. You could even try setting up a home photoshoot to get some lovely portrait pictures. Did you know that spending quality time with animals is good for you too? Studies have shown this can reduce stress and anxiety while boosting your mood and self-esteem. Don’t despair if you don’t have a pet of your own – you can spend time with someone else’s or donate money to an animal charity.

One Day

Fans of David Nicholls will love this limited series which dropped on Netflix earlier in the month. One Day, based on the bestselling book of the same name, follows protagonists Dex and Em and their love story which spans decades. After meeting on their graduation night, the lovestruck pair vow to stay in touch. Each episode of this 12-part series finds them a year older, growing and changing together and apart.
