Model, Actress And Singer Dame Twiggy Lawson (74)
I’m really low maintenance, but I do look after myself because it’s important in the work that I do, so obviously I care.
My big thing is Pilates – I swear by it. A few years ago, I got a really bad back and my osteopath said that the best thing I could do once I was well enough was Pilates.
I’ve been doing it for several years now and it’s changed my life. It’s a miracle and I wish I’d started earlier. I’m telling everyone out there – give up the gym and get a good Pilates teacher! But, oh boy, if you really want to work out, have a day with young grandchildren!
Actress Brenda Blethyn (78)
For three years from 2002 to 2004, I ran the London Marathon, although I took me forever to get round! I don’t think I could do it now. I tried to do a Pilates class the other day – I could barely walk afterwards!
I don’t know, maybe I should do a fitness video. It would have to be realistic, though. So, there I’d be, warming up for a bit. But then I’d be like, “Ooh I’m a bit tired. I need a sit down now!” It would be what women like me are really like when they work out. Never mind “feel the burn”, it would be “When can I have a rest?”
Yeah, maybe that’s what I should do – make a fitness video. A funny one, though!
Seriously speaking, the most regular, and best, exercise I do is walking my cockapoo, Jack.
TV Presenter And Author Fern Britton (66)
A while back, I realised that I wasn’t looking after myself – physically or mentally. I wasn’t doing exercise, I was eating too much and, suddenly, it was like I flipped a switch and I thought, “No, you’ve got to look after yourself.” So, I started doing that. It’s given me a new sort of energy. I do a bit of yoga and I’ve completed the Couch to 5k running app. I’m not intending to run a marathon or beat anybody, but I do enjoy the fitness side of it.
TV Presenter, Journalist And Writer Lorraine Kelly (64)
Wild swimming is a passion of mine. It certainly calms and resets you. It’s a brilliant way to de-stress, and you come out feeling mentally and physically revitalised. It’s fantastic when you’re in, and when you get out you feel totally en
