ACHMELVICH BAY, SCOTLAND

Sunny in Sutherland

When the summer sun is beating down on the white sands of Achmelvich Bay, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the Caribbean. This gorgeous stretch of beach is a popular stopping point for adventurers on the North Coast 500 road trip, and it’s easy to see why. Come rain or shine, Achmelvich Beach is truly spectacular and a fantastic location to spot porpoises, dolphins or even the occasional minke whale. In summer, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a picnic or take a refreshing dip in the shallows.

BENONE STRAND, NORTHERN IRELAND

A must-see location

This fantastic seven-mile stretch of sandy shoreline and clean, clear water has won multiple Blue Flag awards, making it a must-see location for anyone holidaying in Northern Ireland. With all that space, there’s plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the beach however they like, whether that’s frolicking in the waves, enjoying water sports, or relaxing on the sand with a good book. Disabled access to the beach is also available if pre-booked.

TENBY BEACHES, WALES

Pretty harbour

Tenby is a charming town boasting not one, not two, but three beautiful beaches. Of the three, Tenby harbour is perhaps the prettiest; a sandy cove sheltered by the harbour walls where you can rest a while and gaze out at the boats bobbing gently on the water.

Just a short walk away is Castle Beach, an ideal little bay for paddling, sunbathing and building sandcastles with the little ones. If more space is what you seek, you’ll find both the expansive North and South beaches just around the corner.

WHITE PARK BAY, NORTHERN IRELAND

Beach paradise

Although not suitable for swimming because of rip tides, White Park Bay is a beachy paradise on a warm summer’s day and a great spot for relaxation. Backed by flourishing ancient dunes, you’ll spot all sorts of fantastic wildlife, including butterflies, orchids and birds. You may even stumble across a cow or two! Cattle roam the sandy shoreline of White Park Bay and play an important role in conserving the flora and fauna growing on the sand dunes.
