MATERIALS
1 100g ball Manos Marina in Shantung (N7165); 3.75 mm (No. 9) and 4 mm (No. 8) knitting needles (you may find it easier to switch to long circular needles as you work); 3 stitch-markers.

TENSION
An accurate tension is not necessary for this garment.
ABBREVIATIONS
dec – decrease; K – knit; P – purl; pm – place marker; rep – repeat; st(s) – stitches; st-st – stocking-stitch (knit one row, purl one row); tog – together; yf – yarn forward; yrn – yarn round needle.
TO MAKE
With 3.75 mm needles, cast on 9 sts.
1st row (right side) – ★K2, yf, rep from ★ 3 times more, K1 – 13 sts.
2nd & every alt row – K1, purl to last st, K1.
3rd row – K1, yf, K3, ★yf, K1, rep from ★ 4 more times, yf, K3, yf, K1 – 21 sts.
5th row – K1, yf, K5, ★pm, yf, K1, yf, K3, rep from ★ once more, pm, yf, K1, yf, K5, yf, K1 – 29 sts.
7th row – K1, yf, K7, ★pm, yf, K1, yf, K5, rep from ★ once more, pm, yf, K1, yf, K7, yf, K1 – 37 sts. These rows have set the st-st pattern. Cont to inc 8 sts in every alt row until work measures 24 cm measured down the centre and finishing after a wrong-side row.
Purl 4 rows, keeping incs correct and working yrn instead of yf on the right-side rows.
★★Cont in st-st with increases as before for 8 rows. Purl 8 rows, keeping incs correct and working yrn instead of yf on the right-side rows.
Rep from ★★ once more. Purl 2 rows, keeping incs correct and working yrn instead of yf on the right-side rows.
Change to 4 mm needles and lace patt: 1st row (right side) – P3,
★yrn, P2tog, rep from ★ until 3 sts rem, yrn, P3 (1 st inc).
2nd & 4th row – Purl.
3rd row – P2, ★yrn, P2tog, rep from ★ until 3 sts rem, yrn, P3 (1 st inc).
Repeat these 4 rows until lace section measures 12.
