● My mum’s shoes are big ones to fill. The theatrical version of The Syndicate is the last thing my mum, Kay Mellor, worked on before she passed away (in May 2022).

Having acted in the last series on TV, when she asked me to assist her on directing the stage show I jumped at it.

Now, it has become my first solo directing role and, while I am so sad not to be doing it with her, I am also very proud and excited to bring Mum’s vision to the fore.

I understand what her vision was for this production because I was at her side from the very beginning.

● Buddhism plays a major part in my life. I started chanting in 1994. It’s just part of my life now, like brushing my teeth.

In the morning, I do it to set up my life and so I can live in a higher life state. Then, at night I chant with gratitude for the incredible day I’ve had. It’s been a lifesaver.

● My biggest regret is not carrying on piano lessons. I’d love to be that person at a party who can play a few tunes.

My daughter plays and I’m always encouraging her with music she loves, not just the stuff from her lessons.

Based on the smash hit BBC One drama, The Syndicate tells the story of five supermarket workers whose lottery syndicate numbers come in, just as their jobs are under threat. The show tours until July 27. For tickets and details go to syndicateplay.co.uk
