January joy patsy kensit

Forget the January blues, I’m here for January joys…

Dozens of articles and posts about January blues are enough to make a girl quite depressed. I don’t agree that January has to be unhappy at all. I know that the more we hear it, the more we’ll believe it, though. So, for 2023, I’m bringing you a new idea – the January joys.

I love January, and this year, almost more than any other, I’m full of appreciation.

Firstly, I love the promise and sense of opportunity the advent of a new year brings. For many of us, 2020, 2021 and 2022 were not easy years. If bad luck goes in threes, that time is now over! 2023 can be the year it all gets better. What a thought to hold onto!

We all know life can change in a heartbeat. The world we witnessed on 1st January 2022 saw unprecedented turmoil, but that doesn’t mean this year will be the same.

The beautiful thing is that just as the world can swing one way, to darkness, we can also use this as a time to learn and grow. Can we make it perfect? Probably not. Can we make it better? Absolutely we can.

I’m not into making unsustainable, unrealistic promises, so ditch the resolutions. Instead, I concentrate on appreciating what I have, and am indulging in three rituals that help me bring in what I want to see and achieve.

Don’t forget to open the windows. I find fire alarms are not conducive to spiritual fulfilment.

Connect to ubuntu

Originating from Zulu, “ubuntu” means showing your humanity to your fellow man. Anything
