There’s been an awful lot of family drama for Coleen Nolan to contend with lately, so it’s hardly surprising the Loose Womenstar, 58, has been feeling under a lot of pressure.

During a debate on the ITV chat show about empty nest syndrome, an emotional Coleen admitted she “couldn’t stop crying” over the fact that her daughter Ciara, 22, is going travelling – and she has no idea when she’s coming back.

She told co-stars Ruth Langsford, Janet Street-Porter and Linda Robson her daughter has booked a one-way ticket out of the UK, for a trip she’s been planning with her boyfriend for two years.

Coleen added, “But they have no set date on when they’re coming back. They’ve saved up and I’m so proud of them both, but honestly, I just can’t stop crying.”

Ciara moved out of the family home last October, but Coleen – who is also a doting mum to her grown-up children Shane, 35, and Jake, 31 – has clearly been hit hard by her daughter’s overseas adventure.

A source told new, “Coleen has always tried to be a hands-on mum, even when she and her sisters were touring during The Nolans’ heyday, she always wanted them around. She even toured while she was pregnant with Jake.”

Coleen’s once bustling farmhouse does feel empty without her children, according to the source.

“But she’s not alone in feeling like this,” they said. “Her nephew Danny, her sister Maureen’s son, has moved to the States with his family, so Coleen and Maureen are in the same boat. They’ll be supporting each other, despite their busy schedules, with Maureen on tour in Calendar Girlsand Coleen on Loose Women.”

Coleen is trying to keep herself busy with work and her closest friends on the ITV daytime show have been rallying round her, in particular Ruth and Brenda Edwards.

“Ruth’s son Jack is a similar age to Ciara, so they have a lot in common, and Coleen really supported Brenda when she lost her son Jamal in 2022, so Brenda will want to be there for Coleen. She knows she has a lot going on in her personal life.”

Another source close to Coleen explained, “She is going to miss Ciara terribly, but it’s more than empty nest syndrome. She’s had a very tough time with relationships, her own health and her sister’s, there is the drama surrounding her son Shane
