When Ellie Leach lifted the Glitterball Trophy after months of intense rehearsals on Strictly Come Dancing, the 22-year-old was on a high.
But as she began the tour of a lifetime with her fellow Strictly cast last month, Ellie’s confidence reportedly took a huge hit when her ex-boyfriend, Reagan Pettman, opened up about the ins and outs of their split – including his infidelity.
Now, according to a source, her friends and family are “worried” about the former Coronation Streetstar, as she is forced to come to terms with her private life unravelling so publicly.
“Ellie was devastated when she split from Reagan as they were together for a long time and she was convinced that they had a future. He knocked all of her confidence and it took going on Strictly to regain it all. She is a totally different person now,” our source claimed.
“So, after he did his tell-all saying he wanted her back, it really shocked her. Her friends and family are worried about her.”
In an interview with The Sun, Reagan, also 22, said he “hurt” Ellie and “broke her heart” after he had drunkenly snogged another girl while in a nightclub.
Reagan then said his cheating revelation led to the end of his five-year relationship with the actress.
“It sounds cliché but I was really drunk and it all happened at once,” he said. “I knew what I had done was wrong and instantly regretted it.
“I made the mistake of being influenced. I hurt her and I am not proud of it. I broke her heart.”
Ellie and Reagan met when they were just 16, but the ex-soap star decided to call it quits last March after Reagan announced he kissed a woman in a bar in November 2022. He recently admitted waiting four months before confessing to Ellie.
This heartbreak, coupled with her leaving the Corrie cobbles – where Ellie had played Faye Windass since the age of nine – meant the star was ready to put her “all” into Strictly.
“Being cheated on was upsetting, but now’s the perfect time to put my all into Strictly and give that 500%,” she confidently said ahead of rehearsals.
“Self-confidence is something I’ve always struggled with… I’m hoping Strictly will bring that for me, push me and make me realise I’m capable of things.”
