Our columnist talks baby names and his excitement over becoming a dad for the fifth time

TOUGH TIMES

I thought Kate Garraway was incredibly brave for being open about her struggles since her husband, Derek Draper, passed away. She’s been an inspiration to many in how she handled the situation and now she’s being honest about the debt she’s in after caring for him. Kate’s showing others they’re not alone, even when her family has been through so much.

The industry is changing

It was sadly announced recently that Channel 4 will be cutting long-running soap Hollyoaks down from five to three episodes a week, resulting in job losses. So many people stream TV shows instead of watching them live these days, and it’s having a huge impact.

Even my kids don’t watch anything when it first airs. Theo only watches recorded stuff like Henry Danger, for example, on Netflix, and Junior will only watch something live if it’s sport-related. Times have changed. TV isn’t the same any more.

KATE’S DIAGNOSIS

The Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis came as a complete shock to everyone. But, like many, I was annoyed that she felt she even had to say anything. Royalty or not, she has a right to privacy, especially for the sake of her children.

When there was speculation going around, I said on GB News that we had no idea what was really going on, and that she shouldn’t be forced to admit anything. I hope she’s getting all of the support and help that she needs. She’s a true princess.
