Josie Gibson was reportedly disappointed when she wasn’t offered a permanent presenting role after Holly Willoughby stepped down at This Morning– but a source has now told new she’s come to realise why it was actually the best decision for her and her family.

When Holly Willoughby announced her departure from the show last year, many viewers assumed either Josie or Alison Hammond would take over the presenting job full time. But just a few months later, it was announced that Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard would be taking their places as hosts on the famous sofa.

At the time, bubbly Bristolian Josie, 39, was said to be “gutted” she’d been overlooked for the massive role, as she’d hoped to become “the new Holly”. However, in hindsight, it seems the former Big Brother winner has realised it might just have been for the best.

Had she taken on the presenting gig permanently, the Bath-based star would have had to relocate to London, creating a huge upheaval in her and her five-year-old son Reggie’s lives.

Despite any initial disappointment at not bagging the biggest job in morning telly, Josie is now focusing on her future and prioritising her family, a source has claimed.

“Josie was upset that she didn’t get the This Morningjob – it was her dream role – but it also made her evaluate where her priorities lie and what’s important in life,” they said.

“The commute and distance between her home and work life, because she doesn’t live in London, was proving too much. It was too much to uproot Reggie, whose life is in Bath, along with the rest of her family.”
