Actress Suranne Jones turns investigator for this two-part documentary about the most infamous witch trials in history – including the execution of those who were accused of witchcraft in Pendle, Lancashire, close to where she grew up.

Her journey takes her on to Germany, where brutal witch trials took place four centuries ago, and also looks at why so many women were accused of witchcraft throughout history, and how some modern women are reclaiming the word “witch” and giving it a positive meaning.
