CLAYTON M. CHRISTENSEN, THE LATE HARVARD professor acclaimed for his work on the theory of disruptive innovation, famously put forth that of the 30,000 new products introduced annually, 95 percent will fail.

Such a daunting figure, though, does not stop new products from entering the market every day. To help you decide which of these items to add to your cart and which to leave on the shelf, Newsweek has partnered with market research firm BrandSpark Internationalto present the 16th annual Best New Product Awards.

The awards are based on an online survey of 12,000 American shoppers who tried the nominated products asking which they liked best and would buy again. Eligible items must represent “a significant product innovation,” according to BrandSpark.

The award recipients span 88 categories within food and beverage, health, beauty, personal care and children’s products, the household and pet sectors and footwear and bedroom items. Winners are based on a formula that weighs the responses BrandSpark received from its online survey regarding each product’s appeal and quality, and shoppers’ future purchase plans.

No category was too niche to consider. The best in coffee enhancers, bed frames and gut-health gummies, just for example, were all cited. We hope these awards will help you make more informed and confident decisions when you shop.
