New collections, new features, new locations and new exhibitions in Germany, UK and USA

A MAJOR NEW CAR museum has opened in Germany, based around the collection of former Silver Arrow owner Friedhelm Loh. Around 150 cars, dating from 1886 to the present day, will be on display at the 7500m2 Nationales Automuseum The Loh Collection in Dietzhölztal-Ewersbach. Its inaugural exhibition will showcase one-offs, prototypes and ultra-rare highlights from automotive history, including Michael Schumacher’s first World Championship-winning Ferrari, the Lincoln Continental used by United States President John F Kennedy, and the one-of-one Maybach Exelero record car. Another exhibition displays 20 genuine Le Mans racers to honour the centenary of the 24 Hours.

Prof Dr Friedhelm Loh said: ‘These unique exhibits reflect courage, innovation, power, pioneering design, craftsmanship and love for detail. I invite everyone who is interested in and excited by the passion on wheels and the technology in the cars to visit us at the new Nationales Automuseum.’

Meanwhile, in the UK, two museums have added to their collections. The Great British Car Journey, located by the River Derwent in Derbyshire, has taken on board an amphibious Dutton Surf, while the British Motor Museum now has a Singer Le Mans donated by The Patrick Collection.
