With Sam at the launch of Rise

Zara McDermott has come a very long way since we first met her on the 2018 series of Love Island. Happily loved-up and living in London with her boyfriend, I’m A Celeb winner and former Made In Chelsea star Sam Thompson, 31, she has proved she is far more than a pretty face, forging an incredible new career making hard-hitting TV documentaries, about everything from eating disorders to revenge porn.

He’s also taught me about walking into a room and being confident. He’s really good at that, whereas I’d have always clammed up and been petrified about talking to anyone.

And what would you say you bring to the relationship?

I’d say I’m the voice of reason. With all of Sam’s emotional highs, come some lows as well. I’m like the constant – in the middle – the person that reminds him when he feels things are bad that th
