QUEEN CAMILLA

On Monday, the Queen travelled to Catterick, North Yorkshire, in her role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Lancers.

It was a particularly poignant visit for the Queen as her late father, Major Bruce Shand, served in the 12th Lancers and won the Military Cross for gallantry during the Battle of Dunkirk in the Second World War.

THE PRINCE OF WALES

The Prince of Wales made a surprise visit to meet Freddie Hadley, 12, at St Michael’s Church of England High School in Rowley Regis on Thursday. Freddie had previously written to Prince William and invited him to learn about the school’s Matrix Project, which was set up to shine a spotlight on male mental health and remove any stigmas.

During his visit to the West Midlands, the prince also travelled to Birmingham to the Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, a charity which provides mental health support for young people. He met the staff, volunteers and many animals on the six-acre site and learnt about the therapeutic benefits of involving children in the animals’ upkeep.
