Anew season is the ideal time to think about tidying up your home and your cupboards, but how often do you remember to extend that cleaning and tidying blitz to your beauty stash?

Home organisers Gemma Lilly and Charlotte Reddington, aka the Style Sisters, who recently worked with Michelle Keegan to declutter and perfectly organise her jam-packed dressing room and walk-in wardrobes, say that having a neat and tidy beauty kit will make getting ready quicker and easier and elevate your day-to-day routine.

Here, the best friend duo give us their top tips on sorting, storing and stashing away your beauty products to make them easy to access and attractive to look at on your shelves.

CLEAN YOUR COSMETICS BRUSHES

Can you remember the last time you gave your make-up brushes a wash? Before you begin sorting and storing them, make sure they are nice and clean. We like to use a gentle brush shampoo to cleanse and condition our brushes.

You can either give them a rinse in the sink or you can use a handy little gadget like the StylPro Original Brush Cleaner and Dryer, £29.99. Simply fill it up with water, add a couple of drops of the make-up brush shampoo, and dunk your brush into the liquid. The brush then spins clean and dry.

CHECK FOR OUT-OF-DATE PRODUCTS

As you organise your make-up and skincare products, check the expiration dates as using out-of-date items can lead to clogged pores, bacterial growth and infection.

If the expiry date listed on the product has passed – or if it seems discoloured, runny or lumpy, has separated or developed an odour – it’s time for it to go in the bin.

STACK UP YOUR PALETTES

Eyeshadow palettes can be difficult to store as they’re bulky and don’t easily fit into a make-up bag. Transparent palette org
